ONE OF THE WAYS THAT I FEEL LIKE I'VE BEEN AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT IN ADDRESSING THAT FOR THE PAST, I DON'T KNOW, MAYBE 6 OR 7 YEARS NOW IS MY PARTICIPATION IN THE HEALTHY POINT PROGRAM THAT TAKES PLACE EVERY SPRING THROUGH SUMMER. THIS PROGRAM HAS NOT ONLY ALLOWED ME TO GET TO KNOW MY FELLOW COMMUNITY MEMBERS, BUT IT HAS HELPED ME SEE THAT A FOCUS ON HEALTH AND EDUCATION TRULY MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN PEOPLE'S LIVES. THERE'S AN OLDER COUPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT HAS BEEN ATTENDING OUR COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS, AND THEY APPROACHED ME DURING OR FOLLOWING THE FIRST CANDIDATE FORUM THAT WE HAD THIS YEAR TO TELL ME HOW OUR COOKING DEMONSTRATION HAS IMPACTED THEIR LIVES AND HELPED THEM FEEL STRONGER AND HEALTHIER. ANOTHER MAJOR PIECE IS GETTING THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT BUDGET APPROVED BY THE COUNCIL. SO WHAT THAT'S THAT'S GOING TO BE A NEW PROCESS FOR THE CITY. I THINK WE HAVE DEALT WITH OVERALL CAPITAL NEEDS WITHIN KIND OF THE THE OPERATING BUDGET WITH A VERY AGGREGATE OR LARGE 100,000FT ABOVE APPROACH, REVIEW OF OUR CAPITAL NEEDS.
